Our History

In response to the HIV epidemic, East Texas Cares Resource Center was formed in 1989 to assist a rural, under-served area in understanding how the virus was transmitted and proper prevention. Our work includes connecting with other service organizations to connect and reconnect people to medical care and support services, with an intent of increasing the number and percentage of people virally suppressed in the region. We also educate people about what being HIV positive means in terms of the impact on their health and the health of others.
In 2013, we expanded our outreach providing supportive services to all members of our community with a demonstrated need for assistance.

Our Mission

Advancing the health of Northeast Texas by providing supportive services to include food security and maintaining a connection to care through education, prevention, and emergency assistance to the HIV community and those who are living in marginalized
rural areas.
